2 DAYS 1 NIGHT: Patato Park – Pisac, Cusco
The Rural Community Tourism in the Potato Park Pisac will delight us with its exquisite flavors and landscapes that we will find in our tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Certainly, there are 05 communities that are responsible for providing the diversity of potatoes from different altitudes in a single site. For instance, Sacaca, Chawaytire, Pampallaqta, Paru Paru and Amaru.
Likewise, they promote sustainable and ecological agriculture. A delicious trip which should not miss the opportunity to visit it to enjoy the different dishes and in its best versions the cuisine based on potatoes. So, we will visit beautiful lagoons; we will also observe the elaboration of textiles and craft workshops or medicinal plants. ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco – Potato Park – Amaru
- 08:00 am Pick up from your hotel and travel to Paru Paru, at 4,000 meters above sea level where the beautiful Azulqocha, Kinsaqocha and Pumaqocha lagoons are located, and they beautify the landscape.
- Upon arrival, reception to begin the tour with the interpretation of the Potato Park as an Indigenous Biocultural Heritage area. You will learn about the cultivation system, conservation work, storage and distribution and tasting of the variety of native potatoes.
- Then you will have time to walk to the nearby lagoons such as Kinsaqocha, Puma Qocha and Azul Qocha.
- Lunch on route offered by of women “Qachum Waqachi”
- In the afternoon we arrive at the town of Amaru for accommodation in one of the local houses of a family. In this community the most varied crops are found, beautifully intertwined with the town, giving life to a cultural landscape as Andean as it is beautiful.
- At night you can participate in the preparation of dinner and share the food with the Antifrion family, sharing stories and myths of the area.
- Night accommodation in Amaru.
Day 2: Amaru – Potato Park – Pisaq – Cusco
- When you wake up you will enjoy a delicious breakfast typical of the area.
- 09:00 am You will take a walk to Qello Qello to observe the agricultural biodiversity of the Park with different organic products.
- Then you will visit the interpretation center on the conservation and sustainable use of native medicinal plants in the Potato Park run by the women’s group “Sipas Warmi” in the village of Sacaca.
- 11:45 pm After the tour to the Potato Park, we return to Pisaq to visit its picturesque and typical artisan market and take home fine souvenirs in fine alpaca textiles.
- Return to Cusco.
