Inaugurated in 1931, after a process that lasted approximately nine years, it was conceived by Father Pedro Maria Boss and designed by engineer Hector da Silva Costa, with the collaboration of French sculptor Paul Landowski.

On the historical tour, you’ll get to know old Rio and have the opportunity to explore the cultural side of this beautiful city. Rio is also a city with a glorious and honorable past that is definitely worth exploring. This privileged tour of colonial Rio highlights the hidden, preserved, and authentic Rio, with notable sites such as the old Lapa neighborhood, with its famous aqueduct arches; Plaza 15, Rio’s historic center, home to the restored Royal Palace and the Historical Museum; the imposing Candelaria Church; and the São Bento Monastery, considered the city’s richest historic building.
